Seismic Isolation for Architects

Istanbul, Turkiye
16 May, 2024

Adriana Guisasola, ASSISi member, architect and Associate Professor in Structures at the Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, at Mendoza University, Argentina, presented a seminar at MEF University in Istanbul that gave on overview of the excellent book, “Seismic Isolation for Architects,” that she co-authored with Andrew Charleson, Associate Professor of Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. The book is a wonderful, visually attractive introduction to the application, effectiveness, benefits and limitations of seismic isolation, as well as the architectural form, design aspects, retrofitting, economics, construction and maintenance of the technology, and the seminar touched on many of these aspects with an emphasis on many actual building examples.
