SECE 2024: Structural Testing and Seismic Mitigation Solutions Conference

Guangzhou, China
6 – 8 December, 2024

China’s Conference on Structural Experimentation and Testing Technology in Civil Engineering  is a major gathering for the latest in structural testing and seismic mitigation technology. The 8th conference, SECE 2024, held in Guangzhou from December 6th to 8th, 2024, at the Baiyun International Convention Center, was a collaborative effort between Guangzhou University Earthquake Engineering Research and Test Center (EERTC) and esteemed universities and technical societies, attracting over 400 leading experts and scholars in the field of civil engineering from around the globe.

SECE 2024 highlighted the cutting-edge advancements in structural testing and seismic isolation, with a spotlight on structural testing and inspection, the synergy between physical and virtual experimental teaching, and the strategic planning and construction of laboratories.

Academic Reporting and Discussion

A highlight of SECE 2024 was the technical tour of EERTC, Guangzhou University, which offered attendees an in-depth look at the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and science education base. The tour showcased demonstrations, such as a multi-point seismic simulation on a 54-meter tunnel model using advanced shaking tables, and a trial of isolation bearing tests capable of withstanding up to 10,000 tons.
