The 2nd Earthquake Resistant Buildings Summit & Exhibition, organized by ST Alternatif Fuarcılık, took place in Istanbul from December 18–21, 2024. As the only dedicated event in the region focusing on the seismic protection of buildings, the summit attracted significant attention from local and international participants.
The Turkish Association for Seismic Isolation (TASI), an institutional member of ASSISi, played an integral role as a supporter of the event. Several TASI and ASSISi corporate members contributed by hosting an exhibition booth and delivering insightful presentations. ASSISi Corporate Members that participated in the Summit were FIPMEC, Fuji Engineering, HIRUN International, Mageba, Maurer and TIS.
A highlight of the summit was TASI’s premiere of their innovative multi-axis shake table combined with virtual reality (VR) technology. The display gives participants an immersive experience of an earthquake on a living room both with and without seismic isolation systems. The technology is a major initiative by TASI to to enhance public awareness of the benefits of seismic isolation technology.
In the future, TASI plans to make this equipment available for rental to interested parties as a powerful and tangible demonstration tool for the benefits of seismic isolation.
