About

ASSISi brings together academicians, design engineers, architects, manufacturers, agencies’ representatives,  students and others involved, or simply interested, in seismic isolation and energy dissipation technologies. The society’s goal is to disseminate the results of research, professional knowledge, application examples, basic training material and real-world experiences to foster further development, acceptance and use of seismic protection solutions and techniques. To pursue this mission, ASSISi undertakes the biennial World Conference on Seismic Isolation, Energy Dissipation and Active Vibration Control of Structures (WCSI), conducts workshops, seminars and develop publications and technical resources.

ASSISi, the Anti-Seismic Systems International Society, Inc., is a non-profit organization based in Berkeley, California, U.S.A., committed to the advancement and promotion of seismic isolation and energy dissipation technologies. ASSISi was originally established on October 5, 2001 in Assisi (Italy), during the Closing Panel of the 7th International Seminar on Seismic Isolation, Passive Energy Dissipation and Active Control of Seismic Vibrations of Structures.  Assisi is known worldwide as the city of Saint Francis, and is emblematic of “Peace and International Cooperation”. Having ASSISi as the name for the Society symbolizes our commitment to pursuing a better and safer world through international cooperation and collaboration.
